The Hairstyles taking 2021 by storm

With 2020 taking away our favourite form of glow up, we’re all looking to 2021 with anticipation for the return of the hair cut, colour and style. Able to transform our mood and confidence, nothing compares to that fresh out of the salon feeling.

So, as we all ponder what look we should opt for when reunited with our beloved salons, what styles can we expect to dominate 2021? Here’s our top style predictions for 2021.

Pixie cut

2020 saw more than its fair share of pixie haircuts and is going to be a trend that continues throughout 2021. With the opening and closing of salons leaving people seeking ‘safety cuts’, this is a style that’s both manageable and simple while stilling boasting a touch of glamour.

Bangs

Quick to become unruly during lockdowns, 2020 saw the fringe officially leave the building. 2021 is set to be all about bangs and its many variants; whether it’s the ‘curtain’ with its long sides and wispy ends that perfectly frame the face, or the sultry ‘peekaboo’ that lazily falls across the forehead, bangs will be your best look over the coming months.

The Shag

This year, we’re set to see the revival of The Shag. Working seamlessly with bangs to frame the face, the shag will be adding plenty of texture that not only adds a certain ‘edge’ to your hair but pays homage to the rock n’ rollers of the ‘’70s. The modern shag is both laidback but perfectly put together, and will complement any occasion, whether it’s a Zoom get together or a stroll in the park.

Textured blunt bob

Adding texture to a blunt bob is great for taking a fresh, chic approach to the very traditional look. Highlighting natural textures in your hair, this is a look that can be pulled together in just a matter of minutes – simply ask your stylist to cut it blunt before adding dishevelled edges to add a ton of unique character.

Twilighting

The biggest trend set to take 2021 by storm, and my personal favourite, is twilighting. If you would love to rock a new colour but want to keep it subtle, twilighting will be the new look for you as it offers the best of both worlds. Combining babylights and balayage highlights, it will give your locks a touch of flair and is a fashionable way to adapt a dimensional look without the added drama.

Overall, the most important thing when looking at new styles is to just have fun. Your hair is your crown, so use it to express your unique self. Don’t be afraid to play around and explore – your stylist is there to help you achieve a look that’s truly perfect for you.
