A Manifesto to Shop Local This Christmas
1. I pledge to go local some-not all.
This isn’t about giving up everything from larger businesses or retailers. It’s about choosing, with intention, to shop some of my Christmas gifts, decorations, food and festive extras locally. Every purchase can make a difference.
2. I pledge to invest in my own community.
When I buy from a local business, I’m not just spending – I’m supporting my community. My purchase becomes part of something bigger than a transaction; it’s an investment in my local area.
3. I pledge to local-ify my whole Christmas.
It’s not just about gift shopping. It’s about the decorations that dress my home, the food that fills my festive table, the unique touches that make the season sparkle. I’ll look local for all of it because local means personality and originality.
4. I pledge to make it joyful.
Christmas shopping shouldn’t be a chore – it’s part of the Christmas joy! It’s strolling into a friendly shop, discovering something unexpected, chatting with the person who made it, finding that unique piece no one else has.
5. I pledge to spread the cheer.
I’ll tell my friends, share my finds on socials and hype up local businesses wherever I can. The more we support our local businesses, the more they thrive – and the more vibrant our community becomes.
So here’s the ask
