How lucky are we to have been invited for a sneak peak of the lovely new Rosanna’s bar and restaurant in Berkhamsted? It’s another venue to open in Berkhamsted that brings Hertfordshire up a notch with exquisite decor and oh so yummy food.
Alessia and Rosanna (sisters no less) have poured their heart and soul into their bar and restaurant, and it shows. Passion pours from them both. Fans of I Love Food will be pleased to know the owners haven’t disappeared but the restaurant has been given a new lease of life with extensive refurbishment.
Alessia brings her love of interior design to the table as well as her impeccable hosting skills; making us all feel so welcome in the only way Italians know how. The space feels modern, sleek, intimate and relaxed and it was lovely to know that all of the finishing touches were handpicked by Alessia and come from all across Europe (my favourite being the Sicilian ceramics that fill the shelves).
Rosanna is the heart of the kitchen; serving food made of the freshest Italian ingredients, making you feel like you are transported directly to Southern Italy (especially as we sat together on a large social table, perfect for parties, with the smell of rosemary wafting through the open doors of the sun-filled roof top terrace). The menu boasted of perfectly poached eggs, broccoli, asparagus and smashed avo on toast followed by a lemon and thyme loaf – all homemade of course.
It goes without saying but with food this good and a space so nice to spend time in we’ll be back to sample the full menu asap.
