I saw a meme this week that showed a lockdown budget where all items in the budget were £0, but food was about £2k a month. It’s a pretty fair assessment of lockdown life, isn’t it? Suddenly our main preoccupation is getting food and what to have for our next meal…and actually constantly feeling hungry in between! I joke, but obviously we are in a very serious situation and we are all adjusting to our new reality. Lockdown is completely debilitating to the hospitality industry, but seeing some of our favourite restaurants adapt to offer takeaway or delivery has been both exciting (for us) and also inspiring to see their speedy adaptation. Getting food supplies is, of course, much more difficult and, at times, more worrying than in normal life – so the ability to get a cooked meal delivered to your door from a favourite restaurant is a joy, breaks up routine and helps you support those businesses we all enjoy visiting so much. I have to say as perks to lockdown life this is a pretty big one for me and although these businesses are working incredibly hard to make this happen and it may not necessarily be their preferred business model, I for one would definitely love to see more at-home dining post lockdown!
It’s taken me a little while to come to the decision to put this together. I’ve been asked a few times to share some information about local takeaway options, but things have been changing almost daily and I also fear leaving anyone out as so many food businesses are working their socks off right now to get food and drink to us hungry lockdowners. However, in the end, I decided that as we already have a blog of essential food and drink deliveries, it’s okay to have a blog just to highlight some of our favourites for takeaway and those that have been recommended to use. So here goes…

Lussmanns
Hot off the press! We have been watching Lussmanns do amazing things with their veg boxes and ready made meals, but as of next week they will be bringing this to Tring! You will be able to buy wine, beer, ready made meals, fish, groceries, cheese and more. Have a look at www.lussmanns.com for more info.
Crockers Henley
We have been so excited about the new Crockers Henley opening. This promises to be all the high-end food and drink we’ve loved in Tring, in a beautifully renovated building, right on the market square in Henley. The delay in opening of the restaurant must be incredibly difficult for the team, but they have worked super hard to adapt… and their take-out food looks insane!
They are doing take-out from Henley (I think with the possibility of delivery later…so keep an eye out for that). Their menu can be found online at www.crockershenley.co.uk. They have an online shop where you can order wine, pre-mixed cocktails, gin, and vacuum packed meals and they also have hot food which you can order every weekend from Friday 07398 210769. They have also been selling their freshly made bread in the market.
Native Feasts
These experts in pop-up high quality, locally sourced food were quick to bring their food to our doors. They are delivering feasts (multi course meals) with the potential of adding wine and other items to our doors every weekend. They deliver in a 12 mile radius of Thame, so sadly no good for Tring & Berko, but if you’re in the zone, you have to try this.
Follow them on Facebook for updates of their menu launch and book online here www.nativefeasts.co.uk
Lata Lata
This restaurant has been on my must-visit for so long…sadly I now have serious fomo that it will be some time before I make it there! If you are in the High Wycombe area however, it is great news for you as they are doing delivery through Deliveroo, Tuesday – Saturday for great food.

This is just a small taste of what’s on offer and by no means exhaustive. We see from local Facebook groups that a lot of regular delivery businesses are still delivering, so do seek them out and look at the great delivery apps Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats for more options. Of course, if you have a favourite restaurant or eatery a great thing to do is see if they offer anything takeaway or delivery…that way they still get your custom even in lockdown.
Also, if you have and incredible home-dining meal from somewhere not listed, we would be happy to add them on, so why not get in touch via our web contact form or Instagram DM and tell us all about it or just tag us in your home dining pictures so that we can share and give everyone food fomo!
