Meet our member Lucy from Lucy Williamson Nutrition. She tells us more about how she got started, shares her highlights & challenges of running her own business, and answers our Local Biz Quickfire.

Briefly tell us a bit about yourself and what your business offers.
I’m a Registered Nutritionist and former Vet! My journey from agriculture into nutrition has given me a unique perspective on the deep connection between food, health, and the natural world, which is why I specialise in Gut Health. It’s a brilliantly personal and science-based approach to help health thrive and I love it!
I do Nutrition workshops locally – check out my summer ones here 🙂 As well as personal nutrition & a consultancy supporting nature-positive food producers.
Most recently I’ve launched my Gut Health learning platform helping people make food choices that support both their well-being and the planet. I’m most excited about my CPD approved gut health course for health practitioners which is now up and running too!
I love to give clarity on all things nutrition, turning the science into practical advice to optimise whole-body health.
I live with my (growing-up!) family in Northwood and our border terrier, Rory. Our two young ones are away at Uni now and after a life moving around in the military (my husband is RAF) we’re happy to be settled beside the glorious Chilterns!

How and why did your business get started?
As a Mum, having always had a fascination about food I became more and more confused about how to actually choose good food. I was looking fr a way to move into human health and liked the idea of developing my own business. An opportunity came up 10 years ago to go to King’s College London and study Nutrition (which was a bit scary in my 40s) so I did and have been freelance ever since.
What’s been your biggest highlight of running your business?
Just giving clarity to help people on their health journey via food. It’s amazing how it can be so empowering just having the confidence to understand your personal food choices!
What’s been your biggest challenge?
In all honesty being a Mum and partner as well as being a business owner – I’m sure so many relate to that. I’m so passionate about what I do but as family always comes first I’ve had to work really hard about setting clear boundaries and stepping away from work.

What are your plans for the future for your business?
Actually I just want to connect more with it locally – I’ve spent 9 years doing all sorts of projects from Radio 4’s Food Program to National projects, but locally is where we can make the most impact and I just really value feeling part of, and supporting, my community now.
What’s the best thing about being a member of Chiltern Biz Collective?Â
Being part of a supportive community for sure! I’m quite new here obviously but I feel a very warm welcome (thank you) and have really enjoyed the few things I’ve managed to join in with so far.
How can people work with you and where can we find you?Â
I’d love to hear from you!
Why not join my FREE online Gut Café! Very chilled online meet ups from my kitchen! They’re a great chance to ask all your nutrition and gut health questions and for us to connect together each month 🙂
