It’s officially Autumn! In this guest blog Rebecca, from Weave Interiors, shares some tips for bringing the season into your home.
There’s no denying it, Autumn is here! I know it’s not easy to say goodbye to Summer, but personally I love the changing of the seasons and Autumn, in my opinion, never disappoints.
The days grow shorter and the air takes on that crisp, golden edge, the sunny days feel precious & look stunning and the colder rainy days feel cosy.
From an interiors perspective, Autumn and Winter are the perfect excuses to lean into comfort, get snug and create spaces that feel inviting and layered – somewhere you love to retreat to when the evenings draw in. Run that bath, invite friends over for a roast and light those candles.

Begin with texture
I always advise clients, to start by introducing texture. Think soft throws draped over the sofa, plump cushions in velvet or wool, and cosy bedspreads or a chunky knit casually folded at the end of the bed. These tactile layers instantly make a room feel warmer without having to touch the thermostat.
There are some fantastic options around, The Secret Linen Store, Graham and Green, H&M Home, Abigail Ahern and Zara Home are all great for sourcing throws and cushions for sofas and beds.

Colour is key
Colour also plays such a powerful role at this time of year. Deep russets, mossy greens, and inky blues bring a richness that works beautifully with candlelight or the glow from a side lamp. If you’re not ready for a big change, try seasonal accents: a set of textured burnt orange cushions, a forest-green vase, or even a handful of autumnal stems from the garden in a favourite jug.
As well as real plants and flowers, faux or dried stems can be incorporated successfully into a room scheme to reflect the changing season. Locally Big Sky in Great Missenden and Neptune in Chesham have a great selection.

Pay attention to light
Lighting is another element that transforms a space. As natural light fades earlier, add warm-toned bulbs, table lamps, and clusters of candles to create a soft, welcoming glow.
Layering light sources allows you to adapt the mood, whether you’re curling up with a book or hosting friends. We can now think beyond the confines of our plug sockets.
Companies like Pooky are brilliant for beautiful lamps with rechargeable bulbs and many other companies, such as Cox and Cox, Next and John Lewis sell rechargeable lamps.
The options for lighting are so flexible now, from table lamps to wall lights and even ceiling pendants with rechargeable bulbs, they can be easily added wherever you need so you can create a cosy corner from a dark space now without any re-wiring.

It’s all in the details
Lastly, don’t forget the little details. A basket by the door to help with the storage of scarves and gloves for the family, a sheepskin by the fire, or a simple wreath on the wall can quietly nod to the season without overwhelming your space.
I am a fan of shopping your home, just looking at what you already have and adjusting it for the change of season can be really impactful. Adding some dusky brown grasses and re-arranging displays – candles, vases, pictures can make a great change before needing to set foot out of the house to the shops or trawl online.
