A lot of things have changed during this period of lockdown – some of us have stayed working as normal, some of us have had to completely re-think how we’ve been working and some of us have sadly lost a lot of work. whatever our circumstances we need to be ready to get back to work in the outside world. Personally I think its going to be difficult to work face to face with people again – as someone who is fundamentally quite shy, I’m actually a little bit nervous about it. I’m quite enjoying hiding behind a computer screen and communicating via messaging zoom chats and photographs!! However getting back to normality is inevitable at some point so we have to be ready…
Firstly we need a good collection of basics to wear.
Getting out of lockdown casuals is going to be hard but at some point we will have to do it, so here are a few staples I will be looking to wear.
The blazer
A timeless classic this can dress up or down any outfit. Wear it with straight trousers, matching or otherwise, and a nice shirt or crisp white tee /vest and you will look ready for the office. You can wear it over a slinky dress or a nice jumpsuit for the after work drink (that’s if pubs ever open again!!!)
MSCH blazer, £27.00
Leather/faux leather
It was everywhere last winter and looks set to stay. Any colour goes at the moment and I think it’s great to have a pair of trousers/ skirt /shorts in your wardrobe. I was living in my skirt and trousers before lockdown and I will be living in my pleather trousers again when I’m not sweating in this glorious heat wave!! They look great dressed up and down, with camis, tanks, blazers…. they give everything a little bit of an edge which in turn gives you confidence.
Pleather trousers £44.99
The midi dress
Nothing is more versatile than a pretty midi dress. This length is perfect for day or night whether you’re still working from home or moving back into the office. Transform a summer midi into a winter dress with a turtle neck underneath.
Dress £152.00
The tunic
Wear it as a dress or a top, this is one of your most versatile and comfortable items. Good for those days when you might not feel as confident as you like it makes you feel good and look good too. It’s also great to wear if you’re working from home.
tunic £39.99
Gold jewellery
love a bit of gold. It’s been around a while now especially chains and statement earrings, and I think it gives an outfit a grown up touch. Always makes me feel a little sexy and sassy!
Bracelet £18.00
Earrings £15.00
The White tee
of course we should all have a white tee in our wardrobe – be it with a high neck (If you’re an athletic or pear shape) or wide necked if you’re an apple or hourglass) you can wear it from lounging to working to going out – it’s so incredibly versatile.
Tee £9.99
The LBD
Everyone should also have a little black dress ( I have a few!!) because of their versatility and ease, but if you don’t want a black dress why don’t you go for a navy instead? Elegant and neutral it will go with many other colours in your wardrobe.
Dress £30
Dress £18
Black Trousers
Always have a pair – great for work they go with everything and are easy peasy to wear.
Trousers £30
Jeans
straight or wide legged and high waisted and short in length jeans Have a grown up relaxed feel at the moment, however I still love a skinny!!
Lightweight Jeans £25.99
Skinnies £39.99
Hope this helps to get that wardrobe ready for the outside world again….good luck everyone!!
